SHORT PROFILE
Annika Nolte completed her bachelor’s degree (2016) and master's degree (2019) in Geoecology/ Environmental Sciences at the Technical University of Braunschweig. During her academic studies, she developed a passion for modelling and analyzing complex earth system processes, with a particular focus on hydrology and soil science.

Between 2019 and 2024, Annika Nolte worked as a research assistant at the Climate Service Center Germany (GERICS) and the University of Hamburg. Her research focused on groundwater availability and quality under the influence of climatic and non-climatic factors. As a basis for her research, she developed global databases by standardizing large and diverse regional and national data sets. She used GIS, object-oriented programming languages (especially Python) and SQL client software to analyse this data and applied statistical methods and machine learning to predict and understand groundwater level dynamics.

At the DSC and part of the BMBF-funded project DataNord, Annika Nolte aims to help unlock the full potential of data management and analysis for research. As a Data Scientist, she develops specialized learning modules for data literacy for researchers and provides expert guidance and support for research projects, with a particular focus on the environmental and marine sciences.
