The DSC supports the technical advancement of the “Platform Governance Archive”
The funded project aims to improve the automatic detection of changes to social media policies in the data repository Platform Governance Archive (PGA).
The first DSC Seed Grant in 2022 goes to Christian Katzenbach and Dennis Redeker for the advancement of the
Platform Governance Archive (PGA) data repository. The PGA enables users (researchers, regulators, journalists) to critically examine rules and policies of social media platforms (e.g. community guidelines, terms of service, privacy policy) via an appealing interface and the possibility to view substantial changes of the rules and policies over time.
As part of the project, a technical and organizational modification of the techniques for detecting changes in the rules of social platforms (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram) will be carried out in close cooperation with the Open Terms Archive (OTA). The goal is to ensure sustainable collection and preservation of the data.
Funding recipient:
Prof. Dr. Christian Katzenbach (Faculty 9 – Cultural studies, ZeMKI – Centre for Media, Communication and Information Research)
Dr. Dennis Redeker (Faculty 9 – Cultural studies, ZeMKI – Centre for Media, Communication and Information Research)
Funding period:
