SHORT PROFILE
Matheus Eduardo Leusin holds a Bachelor and Master of Science degree in Industrial Engineering, and since 2018 is a PhD candidate in the working group of Prof. Dr. Jutta Günther at the University of Bremen. His previous experience comprehends topics related to the emergence of technologies, with a particular focus in renewable electricity generation technologies analyzed in his Masters’ thesis, and in Cyber-Physical Systems-related technologies, investigated during his research stay at the Bremer Institut für Produktion und Logistik GmbH (BIBA).

His current research involves the emergence and diffusion of Artificial Intelligence over the world, discussed using data from patents and publications related to these technologies. The overall research embodies a macro perspective, in which countries leading AI development are analyzed in detail, as well as a micro-perspective, where firms developing such technologies are examined. During his PhD, Matheus has assisted in the teaching of disciplines related to innovation, namely Empirical research in innovation economics, innovation research in economic policy advice, and internationalization of research and innovation. His interests include topics related to structural change and innovation, technological emergence, machine-learning and Natural-Language Processing, and programming in R and Python.
