SHORT PROFILE
Weimin Liu received his bachelor’s and doctor’s degree in geochemistry from Nanjing University and the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2015 and 2021, respectively. In his dissertation, he used multivariate statistical approaches to investigate complex petroleum systems in order to show how different secondary alterations affect the geochemical properties of crude oils.
He has been working as a Postdoc since March 2021 as a member of the Excellence Cluster “The Ocean Floor – Earth’s Uncharted Interface” at the Research Unit Enabler TRACERS and Prof. Kai-Uwe Hinrichs’s working group in MARUM. His research interest is applying data science techniques to organic geochemistry tasks, such as developing untargeted analytical methods for high-resolution mass spectrometry data (e.g., quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry and Fourier-transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry).
