SHORT PROFILE
Maryam Movahedifar completed her Bachelor’s degree in Mathematical Statistics at the University
of Payame Noor, Neyshabur, Iran, in 2005, and earned her Master’s degree in the same field at
the University of Payame Noor, Shiraz, Iran, in 2009, with a thesis focused on Meta-Regression’s
standard hypothesis test. In 2020, she received her PhD in Statistics from the University of Payame
Noor, Tehran, Iran, with a thesis on Singular Spectrum Decomposition for time series reconstruction
and forecasting.
From 2010 to 2020, Maryam was a lecturer at various Iranian universities and also provided statistical
consultancy for researchers and students, assisting with the statistical aspects of their projects.
After her PhD, she took a postdoctoral position at the Institute for Statistics, University of Bremen,
Germany, from August 2021 to April 2024. Her research involved developing statistical methods for
reconstructing noisy time series, forecasting data, and multiple hypothesis testing. She also worked
on projects like the closed-loop Volterra method for analyzing time series, evaluating Multivariate
Singular Spectrum Analysis via multiple testing error rates, and robust approaches for outlier
imputation.
Since 2021, Maryam has been a lecturer at the University of Bremen, supervising Master’s theses,
serving on PhD examination committees, and refereeing papers for journals such as the Journal of
Applied Statistics. Her research has been published in reputable journals, and she has presented at
international conferences.
Her technical skills include R, SQL, LaTeX, and SPSS. Currently, as a Data Scientist at the DSC
within the BMBF project DataNord, Maryam supports researchers with the statistical aspects of
their projects, ensuring effective data analysis.
