We invite you to a culinary data break served in five short sessions to share our love for
cooking research data. Based on the
DFG-CHECKLIST for handling research data, we have created a menu on the different data topics that are essential for the success of your funding proposals. We will provide you with recipes for data handling that will help you meet the new DFG requirements. The entire menu can be found on the right and
HERE.
WHAT’S THIS SESSION ABOUT?
In this session, we will address the fifth aspect of the
DFG-Checklist : “Data exchange and long-term data accessibility”.
You have created, cleaned, generated, and documented a lot of beautiful data with a lot of effort (and costs): why should it end up rotting in a corner of the bottom desk drawer?
Article publication is the most common form of research output, but publishing the data itself is becoming not only an obligation by many journals and funders. It is also increasingly an opportunity to gain more visibility and credibility. In this last Data Snack, we will snack on how this can be done, which publication options are available and what needs to be taken into account. Specifically, we will address the following questions:
- What do we mean by archiving? (differences from storage and long-term archiving)
- Where and how can this be done? (searching for the right repository, enhancing findability and reusability)
ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Noemi Betancort Cabrera is systems librarian and metadata manager at the State and University Bremen library (SuUB Bremen) and at the Research Data Centre Qualiservice. Her experience with research data dates back to 2012 when she joined Qualiservice, where she learned (and continues learning) about the problems researchers face in managing, organising and publishing research data. In this respect, she learned that the support of researchers in the generation of (FAIR) data should not only be provided at the end of the research project or at the time of data publication, but throughout the entire data lifecycle.
WHERE AND WHEN?
The info event will take place in hybrid format from 1:00 to 1:30pm at MZH and via Zoom. There will be a 15-minute presentation followed by an open forum for questions and discussion. If you would like to be present on site at the MZH, please use the registration form on the left for better planning. We look forward to exciting discussions!
